David Bowie has spent close to $2 million of his fortune trying unsuccessfully to have himself cloned, a struggle recounted in the lyrics to “Boys Keep Swinging” (1979): “They’ll never clone ya/you’re always first in the line/when you’re a boy.” While many believe that the technology currently exists to create a second Bowie in vitro,biologists have reportedly refused on ethical grounds.
